Strengthening your emergency financial relief program requires regular communication with your workforce, both to increase awareness of the availability of your program and to engage employees as participants in the crisis response.

In the calendar below, we have highlighted select awareness months, holidays and key dates that can be used to drive your communications strategy throughout the year.

Communication best practices
- Leverage all resources: Use as many platforms and channels as possible to spread the word about your relief program to increase exposure and engagement.
- Keep communications timely: If a a natural disaster is looming, your workforce will benefit from a brief reminder that your program is available during their time of need and that individual contributions are a great way to support colleagues during crisis.
- Consider campaigns: Many E4E Relief clients have created dedicated fundraising campaigns for their Emergency Financial Relief fund, to great success. These campaigns raise awareness of your program and strengthen your corporate culture.

π New year, new goals
Many people make resolutions at the start of the year to give back, meaning this can be a great time to reach out to your teams and remind them about the opportunity to support their colleagues during times of need.
ποΈ Martin Luther King Jr. Day
January 20, 2025: This holiday is an excellent time to remind people about the value of doing good in the world. Consider sharing a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., such as: βThe time is always right to do what is right.β
π Black History Month
Black History Month is a time to celebrate the achievements of black leaders, educators, artists, innovators and more. It is also a great time to remind your workforce that you have implemented inclusive financial well-being programs designed to support all members of your team when they need it most. You can then invite individuals to contribute and highlight any matching gift opportunities that may be available.
π Random Act of Kindness Day
February 17, 2025: On this day, consider sending a message out to your workforce to encourage them to support their team members as a βrandom act of kindnessβ that will go a long way toward helping their colleagues during times of crisis.
βοΈ Women's History Month
This month offers an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women throughout our history. It also provides an opportunity to highlight several women in your organization who have contribute to your emergency financial relief fund and why they have chosen to give back to their colleagues in need. This could be timed to coincide with International Womenβs Day, which is celebrated on March 8 every year.
π₯ Red Cross Month
March is also Red Cross Month, which gives you an excellent opportunity to highlight the importance of disaster response and how your emergency financial relief fund supports those who have experienced crisis. Team member contributions keep that fund alive!
π€² National Volunteer Month
This can be a great time to let your workforce know that they may give back after disasters in multiple ways, through volunteer engagement or by giving to your emergency financial relief fund.
π Earth Day
April 22, 2025: The frequency and intensity of natural disasters is increasing, and Earth Day offers you a prime opportunity to remind your workforce that your company has implemented a program to help your people combat the financial impacts of those devastating events, and that they can support the program with a contribution.
π§ Mental Health Awareness Month
Remind your workforce that your Emergency Financial Relief program supports individuals during times of need and helps to improve overall well-being. If applicable, share with your workforce that your program can help individuals cover the unexpected costs associated with emergency Mental Health & Well-being care. You can also encourage them to contribute to the program to support others' well-being journey.

May 16, 2025: Our neighbors certainly include the colleagues we work beside day in and day out, so use this day as an opportunity to encourage members of your workforce to contribute to support their fellow workers when they need it most.
π Start of Atlantic Hurricane Season
June 1, 2025: June marks the start of Atlantic hurricane season, which runs through November. If these storms pose a threat to your workforce, now is a great time to remind them how an Emergency Financial Relief program can provide support during a disaster and how vital their contributions are in sustaining the program.
π§ National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month
This month provides an opportunity to combine your diversity, equity and inclusion efforts along with your support for the mental well-being of your entire workforce. Mental health challenges vary among populations. Take time this month to reinforce your commitment to supporting well-being across your workforce, including through your Emergency Financial Relief program.

Take time this month to remind your workforce that your Emergency Financial Relief program can support them during times of wildfire, and their contributions are vital to keeping the fund going strong.

August 17, 2025: Consider a message to your workforce reminding them of all the organizations your company supports and how they can contribute. Donβt forget to include your Emergency Financial Relief program!

September marks National Preparedness Month, the annual campaign to remind everyone that preparing for emergencies and disasters can keep them, their families and their communities safe. Use this time to remind your people of your program.
π Hispanic Heritage Month
Use this time to communicate about the inclusivity of your Emergency Financial Relief program and let your workforce know how they can contribute.
π Domestic Violence Awareness Month
If your Emergency Financial Relief program covers hardships, this is a great time to remind your workforce that they can receive support if they experience domestic violence. This is also an opportunity to encourage contributions to the program to ensure survivors of domestic violence have a place to turn for help.
β οΈ International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction
October 13, 2025: Established by the United Nations, the day encourages the adoption of strategies that foster resilience and safeguard communities. Use this day to highlight how your program assists employees across the globe (if applicable).
π World Kindness Day
November 13, 2025: This day is the perfect time to encourage kindness among your workforce, and to remind your teams that a contribution to your relief fund is a great way to show your colleagues that you care.
π¦ Thanksgiving
November 27, 2025: As you give thanks this month to the members of your workforce, take the time to also thank them for their contributions to the relief program. Their support is invaluable, and a little gratitude goes a long way.
π Giving Tuesday
December 2, 2025: Many individuals use this day to make contributions to charitable causes. Remind them that a contribution to your relief program is tax deductible and allows them to make an impact close to home.
π«Ά End-of-year giving
30% of annual giving takes place in December, so take a moment this month to encourage contributions to your relief program, in all the ways your organization supports them. Consider sharing with your workforce the impact your program has had, leveraging the data points from your client dashboard, and helping them to understand why this program is critical to the well-being of your workforce.
